A Letter  To The Community

The Gents is a social service club that was established on the campus of Booker T. Washington High School and High School for Engineering Professions in 1964. Founded upon the basis of service and a commitment to advancing to levels of higher education our club has flourished to over 12 high schools in the Houston area.

The Gents are leaders in their communities through: service projects annual events, and step competitions. A few of these projects include: Houston Children’s Festival, Reach out to Drop Outs, campus beautification projects, and many more.

In today’s society many young men lack positive male influences in their homes, communities and schools. Organizations such as Gents inspire us to be a positive force in a negative world by promoting high self esteem, self pride, self discipline, self motivation, and high moral character. It is because of the life changing lessons that are taught to us as Gent members, that the Gents Alumni, Inc was formed. Our primary objectives are to promote health, education, leadership, economic empowerment, self esteem, and to also award academic scholarships to deserving Gent members. The importance of service to over 200 will be highlighted by hosting an annual conference.
